Entering now almost 25 years as a State Conference delegate, I am proud to represent our Branch Members and extend their views on the important issues that matter to them.
In the past two years alone, I was very happy to be part of campaigns related to marriage equality, voluntary assisted dying and changes to abortion laws.
These are all highly emotive issues, and many in our Party and across the wider community have different views.
While these views must always be respected, important reforms have allowed our Party to continue to move forward and remain progressive to best represent the state of Queensland.
I have been a Party Member for 39 years and have lived locally since 1977.
I have been Secretary of both the Oxley and Blair FECs, serving as a VP on the current Federal FEC, and have worked on countless campaigns.
I have experienced no greater joy than seeing an Anthony Albanese-led Federal ALP gain Government.
I am fortunate to enjoy great friendships with our local State and Federal Members, and I look forward to meeting with many of the new members in our Oxley branches.

Some of you will know from when I was the State Secretary of the Community and Public Sector Union, a position I held for twenty years and where I had the privilege of leading that union into affiliation with the ALP. In 2020 I was very humbled to receive an OAM for services to the Trade Union Movement.
I have been a Delegate at the Labor Party State Conference for over 15 years and don’t take the role lightly. Our Party is only as good as the Conference Delegates that represent its members, and a Branch Conference Delegate has the responsibility of putting forward the views of Branch members into Party Policy and giving them a voice so that their concerns and ideas can be tabled.
Our Party works best when grassroots members have the opportunity to play an active role in what we do, and how we do it. I am nominating for this role so that I can be there to take your input to State Conference and make sure you are heard..

While living in Forest Lake, I’ve been a dedicated contributor to ALP, vigorously campaigning in all elections for various candidates and participating in all our party’s state, national and women conferences and acting as a proxy conference delegate since 2015.
I’ve moved a motion about gender equality at the National Labor Women’s conference in Adelaide in 2017 and moved a motion for paid paternal leave at QLD Labor women’s conference in Toowoomba in 2019. I’m currently elected as an executive member of the equity Multicultural Labor Qld. I’ve also represented LEAN, with their economic recovery plan policies in lobbying the branch members of Forest Lake, Kurilpa and State and Federal politicians.
Having a PhD in English Literature from UQ, I speak five languages and work as a multilingual interpreter. I support members of the community in Ipswich, Inala and Logan to access services from a variety of governmental institutions including courts and hospitals, AFP and QLD police. I’ve supported refugees in their settlement and integration into the community in Oxley, and I’ve also housed women fleeing domestic violence.
If I’m elected a delegate for Oxley, I’ll work hard with the branch members to move the motions of significance for Oxley.
